Look and Remember

A memory game for kids

Hello, I'm Ori! I'm going to show you a picture. Look at it as long as you like, there is no hurry. Then something magical happens and takes a few things away. Let's see if you can remember what was there!

How to play

Here is how we play. Ready?

  1. Look at the whole picture. Take as long as you like.
  2. When you have finished looking, press I'm ready. Something magical happens and takes a few things away.
  3. Tap a question mark. I will ask you what was there.
  4. Get it right and the thing comes sparkling back. Get it wrong and you can try again.

Pick a picture

Look and Remember is a memory game for ages 4 to 9. Your child picks one of the pictures and looks at it for as long as she likes. When she has finished looking, she presses I’m ready, and something magical takes a few things away and leaves a question mark where each one stood. She taps a question mark, and Ori asks out loud what was there.

Ori reads every question out loud, and every answer now carries a small drawing of the thing it names: the basket answer shows a basket, the bucket answer shows a bucket. When a single colour is asked, each word still has a dot in that colour, and an answer that names two colours shows a disc split into those two. So a child who cannot read yet can hear the question and pick her answer herself. She may well still want you next to her, and that's fine. There is no timer, no score and no penalty: a wrong answer gets a kind word and another try, as often as she likes. The little film in between lasts a few seconds. It has no controls of any kind, so there is nothing to press and nowhere else it can take her. It's free to play, with no sign-in.
