Halloween Freeze Dance for Kids

Wiggle, flap and FREEZE!

Hi! It’s Miri and Ori. We’re dancing in the Halloween forest, and you’re invited. The pumpkins are dancing. The ghosts are friendly. Come and join us!

Listen to the music. When it stops, FREEZE! Stay still, still, still. When you hear “GO!”, dance again. You can sit or stand. Even wiggly fingers count!

How to play

Press play. The music starts.
Dance any way you like. Sit or stand. Wiggle, flap or sway.
The music stops? FREEZE! Stay very still.
Hear “GO!”? Dance again!

Sing along: the words

Sit, stand, or listen along.
Wiggle your fingers to our song.
When the music stops...

FREEZE!
GO!

Leaf on my head. Look at that!
My floppy, flappy Halloween hat!
Down it slips! Where did it go?
Right on my nose! Oh, hello!

Wiggle-wobble, one, two, three!
Wiggle-wobble, dance with me.
Dance any way you please.
Ready, steady...

FREEZE!
GO!

Flap your arms. We’re owls today.
Flap-flap, flap-flap, flap this way.
Hoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo! What do I see?
That little owl is copying me!

Wiggle-wobble, one, two, three!
Wiggle-wobble, dance with me.
Dance any way you please.
Ready, steady...

FREEZE!
GO!

Wiggles and giggles, big and small.
This pumpkin dance is for us all!
Your turn! What will you do?
A little wiggle? It’s up to you.
Fingers up? A little sway?
Choose your own fun dance today!

Wiggle-wobble, one, two, three!
Wiggle-wobble, dance with me.
Dance any way you please.
Ready, steady...

FREEZE!
GO!

A leaf hat on our pumpkin friend!
One last wiggle. That’s the end.
Wave goodbye, near and far.
Happy Halloween! Shine, little star!

For grown-ups: ways to play

A quick brain break or circle time song. It’s just over three minutes, so it fits between activities. Children can play from wherever they are, on the rug or in their chairs. The song itself says “Sit, stand, or listen along,” and wiggling fingers counts as dancing, so a child in a wheelchair, a tired child or a shy one is fully in the game.
Let the child choose the move. In the middle, the song hands over the choice: “Your turn! What will you do?” Let your child pick, then copy them. Any move is a good one.
For the child who doesn’t want to stop. The game asks children to stop when the music stops, and some love to keep going. Try freezing in a funny pose yourself, or invite them to freeze as an owl or a pumpkin. If they keep dancing, that’s fine. There’s no “out” in this game, and the next “GO!” is never far away.

Questions grown-ups ask

Is this Halloween song scary?

No. It’s about wiggling, flapping like an owl and a floppy hat that slips onto a nose. The pumpkins dance and the ghosts are friendly.

What age is it for?

Kittelfdora Kids makes things for children aged 4 to 9, and this song is simple enough for the youngest of them. Older kids can lead the moves in the “Your turn!” part.
